Verizon and Casio announced the rugged G’zOne Commando, launching April 28th alongside the Droid Incredible 2 at $199. The Commando met military standards for rain, dust, temperature, and other environmental factors, making it suited for construction, utilities, and factory workers who find themselves in conditions that would normally kill a phone.
The phone ran Android 2.2 and featured a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G Mobile Hotspot. On the software side, it offered high-security encryption for corporate email and G’zGEAR, an app with eight modes centered on outdoor activities including tides, temperatures, hiking, and star gazing.
